Varicose veins can cause itching, pain, cramping, and discoloration. Spider veins are smaller and less severe than varicose veins. Varicose veins are more common in women than in men, although anyone can get them. In addition to diminishing the appearance of varicose or spider veins, Laser Vein Treatments can also reduce pain or side effects caused by damaged veins.

Information

Spider veins can be caused by a variety of reasons, including hormone shifts, genetics, obesity, blood clots, certain medications, and more. Usually red, purple, or blue in appearance, these veins often show brightly through the skin and can be hard to cover up.

Laser vein treatment is a procedure used to reduce and eliminate the appearance of unsightly spider veins and small vascular lesions from the face and body.

Laser Vein Treatment at Mc Skin Studio can help create legs that make you want to wear shorts with benefits like:

  • Enhancing the appearance of the legs
  • Eliminating unsightly spider veins
  • Reducing small to medium varicose veins
  • Reducing pain and discomfort
  • Expanding wardrobe options
  • No incisions or surgery
  • No anesthesia necessary
  • Little to no recovery time
  • Treatments are quick

The ideal candidates are women and men with fair complexions who want to reduce or eliminate the appearance of spider veins and small vessels.

Who is NOT a good candidate?

People with very dark or black skin are not good candidates due to a high risk of permanent pigment abnormalities. Anyone who has taken isotretinoin (Accutane) must wait a minimum of 12 months before undergoing vein treatment due to the severe risk of scarring. Patients who have a history of cold sores (oral herpes simplex infection) must take prophylactic anti-herpes medication (such as Acyclovir) before undergoing laser vascular treatment.

Mc Skin Studio is dedicated to providing our patients with safe and effective cosmetic treatments that are designed to help them look and feel their best in their own skin. Frequently Asked Questions

Laser vein treatment uses a laser to target veins beneath the surface of the skin. After heating, the vessel walls collapse and seal shut. The sealed vein is then broken down and absorbed by the body. While it is not guaranteed to treat every vessel, a majority of patients experience significant improvement several weeks after treatment.

There are various lasers used in vein treatments. At Mc Skin Studio, a Long Pulsed Yag laser is used for vascular treatments. We also offer endovascular treatments for larger varicose veins.

The procedure is usually described as feeling like a rubber band being snapped on the skin. A topical numbing ointment may be applied prior to the procedure to minimize any discomfort.

The vessels are damaged during treatment, and it may take up to 8-12 weeks for the vessels to be absorbed by the body. Those vessels that respond to laser treatment will be permanently reduced or eliminated. However, laser vein treatment cannot prevent the occurrence of new vessels forming.

It is important to avoid sunlight to the treatment area for at least 8 weeks after treatment. Keep the treatment areas covered with SPF30+ or clothing. Compression hose (20-30psi) should be worn continuously for 3-5 days. Exercise and hot showers or baths should be avoided for five days after treatment. Also, you should avoid any blood thinners (Aspirin, Alcohol) for five days after treatment.

The number of veins treated, vein size, and other factors typically determine how much your treatment regimen will cost. During your consultation, one of our experienced physicians will examine your veins and talk to you about your goals before creating a personalized treatment plan for you. When your plan is decided, we can estimate the cost of your Laser Vein Treatments and talk to you about payment options.
